La noche de este domingo la triunfadora en los Billboard Music Awards 2015 fue Taylor Swift, quien se llevó nueve distinciones en total, entre ellos el premio a la Artista del Año, colocándose así por sobre otros artistas como Sam Smith, One Direction o Iggy Azalea, que cosecharon tres preseas, seguidos de cerca por destacados intérpretes como John Legend, Meghan Trainor o Pharrell Williams.
En cuanto al rubro latino, Enrique Iglesias se alzó con dos premios en la noche, el de mejor Disco del Año y Canción del Año, aunque perdió ante Romeo Santos el galardón de Mejor Artista Latino; por otra parte, en el evento -conducido por Chrissy Teigen y Ludacris- se honró la memoria de los recientemente fallecidos B. B. King y Ben E. King, dos leyendas de la música estadunidense.
Calidad y nostalgia
Ahora bien, si algo sobresalió en la ceremonia fueron las presentaciones en vivo, donde vale destacar la excelente actuación del trío integrado por Wiz Khalifa, Charlie Puth y Lindsey String; notables estuvieron también Ed Sheeran, el dueto de Iggy Azalea con Britney Spears, lo mismo que el conformado por Nicki Minaj y David Guetta, en una serie que concluyó con Kanye West.
Por otra parte, no faltaron detalles nostálgicos para la velada; primero, un número de apertura con la alineación característica de Van Halen y, a 30 años de distancia, Molly Ringwald presentó a Simple Minds para que cantaran el tema de la cinta ochentera «The Breakfast Club»; de igual forma, se recordó la trayectoria de Mariah Carey.
